NURIDDIN GIYOSOV (born in 1957) - one of the gifted composers, who reached the creative maturity.

He fruitfully works and carries on searches in the field of instrumental music. Mainly, such instrumental genres as symphony and concerto possess a priority in his creative work. Just in these very genres N.Giyosov performs as an original successor of the tradition of Uzbek instrumental music, having created on its base his own style. His nine makom-concertos for various casts of performers: violoncello and orchestra, violin and orchestra, clarinet and orchestra, piano and orchestra, and others, as well as 14 symphonies are models of his work in this concept.

Scientific-theoretical bases and principles of the given style are described by the composer in his manuscript called “The Music System”.

N.Giyasov is also the author of opera-ballet "Three hero brothers", the music to the dramatic performance "Great Tamerlane", the music to the radio-performance in five parts "The Treasure of Ulughbek", oratorio-dilogy "Sabot", music to more than 15 films, a number of songs, romances, and vocal-chorus series.

TULKIN KURBONOV (1936-2002) is one of the outstanding representatives of the Uzbek composers school. The Uzbek national traditions in his creative work are enriched by the experi­ence of world culture. T.Kurbonov graduated from the Tashkent State conservatory, having specialized in composition (class of B.Nadejdin, 1961), and the also studied in probation (class of B.Zeidinan) from 1963 to 1966. Then he per­fected his skills at the Leningrad conservatory (class of Prof. B.Arapov) in 1968-1969, and per­fectly assimilated composition. The profoundly national compositions of T.Kurbonov are the re­sult of his studying the national creative work at the Music Faculty at the Arts Institute. His 4th, 5th and 6th symphonies (for symphony orchestra), 7th and 8th symphonies (for Uzbek folk orchestra), "Shirok", "Shakhzod and Parizod" ballets (the libretto of I.Malmberg), music to the drama of N.Kobil "The birth of prophet Abraham", "Tuyona", "Avicena", "Pages of History" poly­phonic series deserve a particular attention.

Five poems, called "Khamsa" for Uzbek orchestra, «Rechitativ» for trumpet, french, trombone, and kettle drums, recently published in Switzerland, also possess a place among his works. The love, to the Motherland, profound morals, philosophic idea are expressed in the above mentioned works. Nowadays Prof. T.Kurbonov works at the Faculty of Composition and Instrumentation at the Tashkent State conservatory. He is the author of the “Polyphonic course-book”, written in Uzbek. T.Kurbonov teaches composition and polyphony. V.Saparov, N.Giyosov, D.Omonullaeva were among his students.

His poem “in the Khorezm manner” is composed for string orchestra and percussion. The composition is devoted to the 2500th anniversary of ancient Khiva. The composer expresses a holiday mood of people by means of vivid national colors.

F.Yanov-Yanovsky is the author of four operas, four symphonies, concertos, oratorios, vocal series, and compositions for Uzbek folk instru­ments, music to films and performances, variety songs, and music for children. Yanov-Yanovsky's works have received several honors, including diploma for musical score to the animated film "The Young Growth" in 1981 All-Ukrainian Film Festival, the Award of the Youth League of Uzbekistan for music to the film "It will rain" (1985) and the Prize to the Cinematographists' Union for music to animated serial "The History of Islam" (in collaboration with Dmitriy Yanov-Yanovsky) in 1995. His compositions were per­formed in Uzbekistan and CIS countries, as well as in England, Bulgaria, Germany, and Israel. A number of his - compositions are published and recorded on gramophone records and at the radio.

The composition for vocal and two pi­anos “I don't know where" (lyrics by E.Verharn, translated by V.Brusov) was written on the re­quest of the famous piano duet - I. and M.Jeleznovs. It is the first experience in creation of such genre.

ANVAR ERGASHEV (born in 1954) - the Honored Art Worker of Uzbekistan (1996), Laureate of State prize (2007), graduated from the Tashkent State Conservatory, having specialized in piano, con­ducting, and composition (class of M.Tajiev). In his creative work A.Ergashev refers to various genres of modern composer's music. Particularly, two concertos for piano and orches­tra, a concerto for violoncello and orchestra, songs, chamber-instrumental music, and also mu­sic to more than 20 films and 30 dramatic performances possess place among his compositions.

 The creative talent of the composer vividly displayed in the sphere of cinema music; His songs from films “Sharif and Marif”, "The Bomb", "Give me your star, sky", "Penitence", "Big scandal" gained the sympathy of the general public. The music for chamber orchestra "Doston-music", which was performed in Kottbus (Germany) in 1994 for the first time, will sound at the Festival. In the base of this work lies the principle of single-theme development with its figurative transformations, reaching the creation of contrast structural sections

 MIRSADIK TAJIEV (1944-1996) - an out­standing Uzbek composer, experienced preceptor, active public actor greatly contributed to the de­velopment of modern music art in Uzbekistan. Thanks to his innovatory creative works the Uzbek symphonic music came to foreground, and then to the international arena.

He was born in Yunusabad in district Tashkent, and became interested in folk music and instruments while studying in a music hobby. After finishing the music college- named after Khamza, he entered the Tashkent State Conservatory named after M.Ashrafi, where he continued studing composition in the class of famous composer R.Vildanov. His first large compositions, composed during his student days, such as the symphonic poem "To the Memory of Poet", 1st and 2nd symphonies, won the recogni­tion to the talented boy.

After a successful graduation from the Tashkent State Conservatory M.Tajiev works as a teacher at the musical college, fulfilled a creative and guiding activity in the Uzbek State Philarmony, in the Union of composers of the Repub­lic, and works as a teacher in Composition De­partment of the Tashkent State Conservatory until his untimely decease.

In spite of the wide range of his crea­tive interests and use of rather various genres, his attention was directed, mainly, to a symphony. Such distinctive tendencies of Tajiev's sympho­nies as firm leaning on national traditions, particularly an active use of makom means and form-building in organic combination with the composer's own genre principles, have already been clearly defined in young author's 3rd sym­phony. Just this approach brought many of the composer's compositions to the achievement of truly classic altitudes of artistic and professional perfection.

M.Tajiev created large symphonic com­positions, reflecting the most significant events and phenomena of life, one after another. It was not eventually- that the young composer was al­ready recognized as the most prominent modern symphonist far beyond the borders of the Republic in the second half of the 1970s. In 30 years period he created a record number of symphonies Uzbek music. They made up an original music chronicle, imprinting the most significant dates and events of the historical past and the present. The composer managed to reach not only the desired organic synthesis, the unity of the national material and new means of symphonic composition, but also the truly, symphonic thinking. This can be noticed in opuses for the phonic orchestra, as well as in the 7th, 8 th 12th and 16 th symphonies for chamber orchestra.

The symphonic trilogy "The Milky Way" was turning point, cycle of symphonies on the theme of eternal and veritable values, making the best minds of human race anxious, and the last finished, 19th, "Heroic", symphony of the author is dedicated to great changes, taking place in our Motherland after gaining the state inde­pendence.

Such beautiful compositions of the author as musical comedy "Granddads & Grand­mas", "Kumush" opera, music to colour-panorama "The Heart of ancient Samarkand", instrumental concertos, pieces won him the de­served fame a long time ago.

The compositions of M.Tajiev were per­formed in all the Central Asian republics, in Moscow, St.Peterburg, Novosibirsk, Kiev, Minsk, Riga, in Bulgaria, Yugoslavia, Austria, Germany, Cuba and other countries on prestige international festivals and concerts.
