UNION OF COMPOSERS AND BASTAKORS OF UZBEKISTAN

 

HABIBULLA RAKHIMOV (born in Tajikistan, in 1946) graduated the Tashkent State Conservatory in 1974, specialized on com­position under supervision of B.Gienko, and then continued his Master’s degree under supervision of prof. B.Zeidman. Since 1995 H.Rakhimov is the Secretary of the Union of Composers of Uzbekistan.

H.Rakhimov is the author of more than 150 compositions, such as two operas – "The Heart of Mother", “Alpomish and Oybarchin”, two musical dramas - "Mushkil savdo" and "Parvona", three symphonies, seven Concerts, four oratories – “Osvensum”, “Bahouddin Balogardon”, “Independent”, “Sohibqiron abadiyati” symphonic overtures, poems and fantasies, Concertino for piano and chamber orchestra, compositions for brass band, Uzbek chamber orchestra, more than 50 songs and romances, and songs for children and etc.

The concerto genre possesses a particular place among orchestra compositions. In par­ticular, a concerto-fantasy for organ, strings and percussion, a concerto-poem for vocal and symphony orchestra, a concerto for violin and chamber orchestra, a concertino for Violoncello and chamber orchestra witness the constant and great attention of the author to controversial forms of music.

H.Rakhimov often and fruitfully applies to the samples of Eastern classic poetry, as well as to the verses of modern Uzbek authors. His series of romances, solo, choruses, as well as chil­dren’s songs are notable for the sincerity of expression, the novelty of perusal and the candour of embodiment of the image. Mainly, the composer is attracted by eternal themes, such as love faithfulness, natural landscapes, the love to the Motherland Applying to exciting historical and modern events; the composer takes the means of expression from national sources of music, com­bining them with the search of new original ways of solution of creative problems. It was no acci­dent that his artistically valuable compositions of different genres many times were successfully performed in the neighboring countries of Central Asia, as well as in Russia, Bulgaria, France and Japan.

The experienced composer, having a broad knowledge, ability and skill to compose music in various genres, combines his creative activity with systematic pedagogic work, working as an assistant professor at the Faculty of Com­position at the Tashkent State Conservatory in the latter years, as well as with broad and active social acivity.
